This
service has been designed to be easy to use, below is a
quick guide on how to setup a account, and property ready
for online bookings.
Installation
As
soon as your order is received we will send you two files
for you to upload to your web server. One will divert
browsers to the admin area and one will divert them to the
properties.
We
suggest placing each of these files into subdirectories
named admin and properties respectively. Then place links
on your website pointing to /properties/ so browsers will be
able to view your properties.
If
you have any problems with the installation process we will
be more than happy to help. We will however need your ftp
server, username and password.
Your
Administration Area
Create/Edit Account
There are three different account types in your Property
Rental System:
Administrator
An Administrator account is
the only account type that can log into the
administration area. To create a new Administrator
account select Admin from the Account Type drop down and
New Account from the Account drop down.
To limit access to certain areas of the administration
area for an Administrator, deselect the checkboxes for
the pages you do not wish the account to utilise.

Owner
An
owner account is required to add a property to the system.
This account type holds all the details of the person who
owns the property. This allows you to enter multiple
properties1 for one account and also have
multiple owners’ details on file.
Rental Client
A
rental client account is created whenever someone makes a
booking on your website.
Create/Edit Season
Creating
seasons has now been made very simple. With each click on the
calendar you set a start date for a sub season. You can have as
many sub seasons as you like. The end date for each sub season
is the day before the start date of the next.
For
example, If you wanted to create season with 4 quarters in it
i.e. Jan – Mar, Apr – Jun, Jul – Sep & Oct – Dec. All you need
to do is click on the 1st of Jan, Apr, Jul and Oct
and you’re set.
If there
are times in the year a property is unavailable, for example if
you close the property for a week for cleaning. Create the week
in the calendar as you would a normal season and check the
“unavailable” checkbox. This will prevent anyone being able to
make a booking that includes any of the dates in that week.
Create/Edit Property
Your
system obviously needs properties and this is where you enter
them. Every property must be assigned to an account. If you
forgot to create an account you can enter the basic information
here without having to go to Create/Edit account, by clicking on
the “New Account” link next to the account dropdown. This will
display a box asking for the Contact Name, Email and telephone
of the new account. When you click save the account it will be
entered into the account dropdown and automatically selected.

There
are four tabs for property entry.
Details
From
here you enter the majority of the property information.
Any reference you enter must be unique. The rental type
dropdown gives you two options. If you select “Short Term”
you will be asked to select a season for the property. If
you select “Long Term” you will be asked to enter the
monthly rental amount for the property.
The
two right hand fields, Title and Description are languages
specific. Languages can be added to your system via the
settings page. If you enter descriptions in a language the
customer browsing your site will be given the option to view
the description in that language. If you leave a language
blank it will not be displayed.
Images
Adding images could not be easier. Simply click the browse
button to locate your image on your computer. Once located,
enter a description for the image then click add image. You
can do this as many times as you like. The images are not
uploaded until you click the save button. If you select a
file by mistake simply click the remove button to the left
of the image description.
Notes
This
section is not displayed to the customer. It is a place for
you to keep notes about a property.
Ledger
With
the ledger you can keep a track of what money has been spent
on a property. This allows you to quickly tell how much the
owner of the property owes you. Once paid you can set the
status of each individual item to paid.
Click the save button when you have finished entering all
the information on a property.
View Bookings
When
bookings are made on the system you are sent an email. This is
the page where you can alter the status of any bookings. All
bookings require your confirmation. The only booking status
that does not stop new bookings being made for that date is
cancelled. All other status’ will stop new bookings from being
made in that date range
Upload HTML
In order
for the system to imitate your website you will need to save a
copy of your sites HTML with it. Every website is made up of a
header and a footer with all the content going between the two.
Simply copy and paste your header and footer into the text boxes
and click save.
All
links, script references, image paths, style sheet references
and object references must use their full URI.
That is: if you have an image that looks like <img src=”/images/logo.gif”>
The new html would have to be <img src=http://www.yourdomain.com/images/logo.gif>
This is because the pages are being served from the
property reservation.com servers and not yours.
Settings
There
are three tabs in the settings section
General
This is where you will select the
currency your site will be using. If you would like to
support currencies other than the default ones, please email
support@propertyreservation.com
PayPal account email:
This is the email address of your paypal account. If you
would like the server to take deposit payments please enter
your paypal account email here.
Outgoing Email Name:
This is the name that will show up in the inbox of all the
people who receive emails from the system.
Outgoing Email Address:
This is the email address that all emails the system sends
will be sent from.
Notifications Email:
This is the email address of the person whom you want to
receive notifications when bookings are made on the system.
Languages
In
this section you can add as many languages as you would like
the system to support. Languages only affect the title and
description of properties.
Property Types
In
this section you will be able to add the different types of
property that you intend on supporting in the system
